Outdoor Movie Night – Themed Party Week!

dd6339c43a493af17f44d8689f616c94Before all the summer heat goes away and you completely fall back into the routine of having the kids going to school, why not plan an outdoor movie night? You might have to come armed with bug spray just in case, but it is a great get together idea for family night! Bring a charged laptop outside to watch Netflix or rent a projector to play your favorite flick.

Popcorn can be made inside the house (that already saves you about $10 at the theatre). What my family does is save Cool Whip bowls to use as Popcorn Dishes during family night. They are the perfect size and easy to carry multiple at a time!

If you are interested in a Movie Night, but unsure about having enough room in your backyard, call us at the B&B Country Garden Inn and we can set up an evening for you! Keep checking back this week for more information and ideas for this themed party idea!

Pool Party – Game

Summer is a Great time for a pool party! It is a great way to cool down, and everyone can relax pool side or swim around. All this week we are giving you ideas of how to pull of your own Pool Party, whether it is for the kids or having Your friends over for a weekend get together. Rubber Duckie Races You can usually have kids entertain themselves in the pool, whether it is playing with a Beach Ball or Fun Noodles. How about coming up with some new games to challenge them in the water? We have a cute Rubber Duckie Race that will be sure to get some laughs from the little ones, well, those of all ages! Just line up everyone at one end of the pool and have each person with a rubber duck in front of them. First person to get theirs to the other end wins, sounds pretty easy right? Well, how about adding a rule that you can only move it using your nose!? Another thing to consider is Party Favors. Some cute ideas would be Life Saver candies, a CD made up of Summer Time music, or even just Flip Flops! Yes, Flip Flops!

Back to School Snacks

August is the time when kids of all ages are going back to school, and that means more time in the morning is needed to help them get ready to get out the door! One fast tip that could save you some time is a Healthy Snacks drawer. This does not only have to be used for the kids, but for your work lunch as well. The weekend before put together some bags of grapes, cut carrots, peanut butter and jelly, etc. Then each morning all you have to do is grab and go!

A really cute back to school snack for the kids is to make a Dragon Fly snack pack. All you need to do is color a clothes pin, attach pipe cleaners as antenna, and clip is between two snack sized plastic bags. The snacks inside the bags will make the colorful wings, and it is a fun way to get kids to eat healthy!

Another Healthy Snack recommended by Jacqueline Gomes, a registered dietician. This recipe involves no cooking and easy preparation that even your children could make yourself. Peanut Butter and Banana roll up snacks are “high in protein, potassium, and whole grains”. All you have to do is spread peanut butter on a whole grain tortilla, add bananas to the center and you can slice it into pinwheels after you roll it up!

Frog AppleAnother cute snack idea, this one may take some time, is a Frog Apple! I had to share this one with you, absolutely adorable healthy snack idea. All you need is Green Apples, Green Grapes, chocolate chips and marshmallows. Just cut your apple up into quarters and remove the core.  Cut three grapes in half and slice two triangle toes in 4 of the halves.  You can use a little cream cheese to stick the arms to the frog and then add his hands and feet.  For the eyes, take a couple of small marshmallows {or you could do a blob of cream cheese} and add a chocolate chip to the middle.  I stuck my marshmallows on with a little bit of cream cheese too.
